The Officer's House is the most characteristic building in the forest town of Borne Sulinowo, reminding us of its military past. The impressive building was built in the 1930s, when the Germans were building a base for an armored training ground in Borne. Wehrmacht officers trained with it. Training here included, among others: officers and non-commissioned officers stationed in the building of General Guderian's armored units. In the part of the building facing the lake there was an officers' casino, and all official ceremonies took place in the impressive auditorium. The street where it is located was then called Kasino Strasse.
After the war, the base was taken over by the Russians, who set up a garrison casino in the Officer's House. There was a cinema, a theater, guest rooms, a disco and a restaurant here. This was where the local television station rebroadcasted programs from Moscow. The Germans were replaced by commanders of the Warsaw Pact armies, who sometimes visited here.
